Club News - Season 2008/2009 - No. 1 - July 2008

A90 ARAB SOCIETY 2008 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING…

…took place on the last Saturday of June with a healthy 30+ Arabs in attendance. Bullet points from the meeting were the re-election of the same Committee as last Season with the exception of Ronnie Coull who has stood down due to work commitments but will continue to be a hard working Member of our Club. Like everything else at the moment our bus hire cost have increased for the current Season and we are glad to report that Members will be able to travel for the same prices as last term, non-Members however will be subject to increased prices. Thanks to healthy Club Funds due to our CIS Cup run & mainly from Members sweepstake selling efforts, we are delighted to be able to donate £1500 pounds of Club Funds to be split among the following organisations/causes namely UNITED FOR KIDS, DUFC YOUTH DEVELOPMENT and the newly launched DUNDEE UNITED COMMUNITY SCHOOLS COACHING PROGRAMME.

A90 ARAB SOCIETY 2007/2008 PLAYER OF THE YEAR PRESENTATION EVENING…

…will be held in the Taxi Driver`s Club, Rosebank Street, Dundee on Saturday 30 August at 1930 and tickets will go on sale priced £5 & £3 concessions at the Barca gemme. After complete minters of attendances at our previous two functions, this event is definitely the last chance saloon with regard to any future events being held by our Club so it`s over to yourselves to make the effort. Considering our team`s excellent performances of late it really should be a no brainer whether it`s worth noting in the `must attend` section of Arab diaries. The evening will comprise the normal trophy presentation and assuming everything goes to plan Willo Flood & Morgaro Gomis will be in attendance to collect their respective awards followed by live musical entertainment interspersed by a prize raffle & hot stovies to line the stomach. BARCA BADGES

The A90 produced a souvenir commemorative pin badge of our Barcelona match last Season and for any of you who missed one at the game, we have still a decent stock left and they are on sale from Shuggy priced £3.

With 140 Members last Season it`s renewal time again for the new Season and yet again we are running the `early bird` promotion on our normal £10 & £5 concession subs expiring after the Killie gemme on 30 August when non-Members excess prices will take effect. The renewal/application form is available online or from Committee Members with the cost currently £6 full/£3 concession. All completed forms to be returned to Auld Dug. Providing Sky remove their collective fingers from their behind and get the EPL viewing schedule announced ASAP our first sweep of the Season will commence week ending 26July with a rollover £400 jackpot up for grabs. Sellers will be contacted in due course.
